This just in from Paul Flanders:
John Flanders passed away this morning after a three year battle with dementia. John was born in Pasadena, CA, in 1941 to Earl and Lucile Flanders. He attended St. Philips Grammar School, St. Francis High School, Pasadena City College, and graduated from San Jose State University. After college he worked at U.S. Steel in Pittsburg, CA, and then McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach before rejoining the Flanders Company, the family’s motorcycle business, as an outside sales representative.
When his parents retired, John became president of Flanders Company, working alongside his brothers Bruce and Paul. John was the eldest of the three brothers. John enjoyed going to his children’s sporting events along with riding and racing motorcycles. He was an active participant in the speedway motorcycle races, cross country desert races and motocross races.
He was a member of the Trailblazers Motorcycle Club, American Motorcyclist Association, District 37 AMA, Old Timers Motocross Club, and Speedway Racing Association. He is survived by his wife Connie, daughter Teri, sons Jim, Dave, Bill and granddaughter Gabby, along with brother Paul. His brother Bruce passed in 2022. May he rest in peace.
