E-BIKE SUMMIT SET

The recent USFS rulings and the ever-changing nature of EV vs. pedal-power make for perfect timing of the non-profit PeopleForBikes E-Bike Summit set for May 18-19 in Asheville, NC. The summit is a gathering for anyone interested in the future of electric bicycles, including industry leaders, land managers, trail and bike advocates, with the ultimate goal being to "Get More People Riding Bikes More Often."

"As more Americans look to mountain biking and e-mountain biking for close-to-home recreation, trail users are hoping for more opportunities on public lands to access the outdoors and connect with the dirt," explains Rachel Fussell, PeopleForBikes’ eMTB policy and program manager. "We’re also advocating for the guaranteed allowance of mountain biking and at least Class 1 pedal-assist eMTBs on public trails. Many of our nation’s best mountain bike experiences can be found on trails on our federal public lands, so it’s critical to work in partnership with land management agencies as they develop new rules and guidance for access and construction."

Free beer? In addition to the Electric Bicycle Summit, PeopleForBikes is hosting the DRAFT event on Wednesday, May 18 at the New Belgium Brewery in Asheville. DRAFT is a nationwide meetup series that taps into people who love bikes, biz and beer. "Our events bring communities together to celebrate all things bicycling," she adds. "Tapping into our collective knowledge is critical and we look forward to a full house."
