A SALUTE TO VETERANS DAY

This week started with Daylight Savings time, a concept that came into play to conserve energy in World War I. Another holdover from the “War To End All Wars” was first celebrated as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I. The day was formally recognized on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month in 1918. Today we continue to celebrate the day as Veterans Day.

Armistice Day started as a time to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service in WWI. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans in all wars.

Take time to thank the veterans for their service to our country and take that “extra” hour of daylight savings time on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month to reflect on the sacrifices of those who gave all to support our Nation.
