Our friend Mark Kariya suffered a moderate cardiac episode yesterday, underwent surgery last night and is now recovering in the ICU, says Cycle News’ Jean Turner in relaying a message from the Kariya family to Kato’s massive off-road industry family. “I chatted with Mark’s sisters Laurie and Darcy today. They are doing okay through this crazy ordeal and above all want to say THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for the outpouring of love and kind words.”
“We are so appreciative of all the love and support and all the messages,” Darcy said. But she also added with a laugh, “Nurse Margie doesn’t, though.” The number one thing Kato needs now is rest and the nurse finally had to take his phone away from him. It is apparently still blowing up at the nurse’s station.
We’re a tight family and there is no one more loved than @kato.foto in the entire off-road industry! The love has definitely been felt. The family and ICU staff want everyone to know that Mark needs rest right now above all else, and again, thank you so much to everyone for the overwhelming support.
