In the spring of 2013 off-road motorcycle legend, ISDT Gold Medalist and AMA Hall of Fame racer, Carl Cranke was interviewed for the feature documentary film PENTON: The John Penton Story narrated by Grammy Winner, Lyle Lovett. It was the first time Producer/Director Todd Huffman had met Carl but soon felt like he had known him all his life. Funny, serious and a wonderful storyteller.
The following was unfortunately cut from the final film but was part of 40+ minutes of “Deleted Scenes” from the film that was shown at the 50th anniversary event in 2018 celebrating the first Penton’s coming to America in 1968. It will be polished up and included in a soon-to-be release of those deleted scenes.
For now, we wanted to share this rough edit because on November 14, 2020, the world of motorcycling lost Carl Cranke and we wanted those of you who knew Carl and didn’t know him, learn a little more about this great man.
