ICING ON THE CAKE

CAKE, the Swedish maker of premium lightweight, electric motorcycles, today announced that they are expanding their presence around the globe via a series of pop-up dealerships. Pilot pop-ups have gone up in the U.K. and Italy, and more are on the way. “Our physical presence around the world is expanding in line with our multi-city strategy, where we treat key cities as proper markets of their own,” said Stefan Ytterborn, Founder and CEO of CAKE.

“Change towards sustainable transportation is happening fast, with more companies and commuters realising every day how CAKE motorbikes can make business better – or just turn commuting into something pleasant.” With that in mind, the UK sales team is already in place, with growth plans including an expanded local team to serve British B2B and B2C customers. Curious Londoners can begin by visiting the CAKE Pop-Up Store in the heart of Shoreditch, with a permanent CAKE:site expected to open later this year.

“London is an important part of our multi-city strategy, where we treat key cities as proper markets of their own,” he notes. “There is definitely an appetite for sustainable transportation alternatives in this vast city, and sustainability is our reason to exist and simply inseparable from our business. With its commuter challenges, yet maturity in terms of bicycle riding, CAKE will further release the congestion issues of London and we want our community of CAKE riders to be a part of this change.”

The United Kingdom is set to ban the sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles by 2030. With more than 2.5 million cars registered in London alone, a paradigm shift is expected. CAKE is already offering electric mopeds and motorcycles that serve customers ranging from last-mile delivery companies to commuters. CAKE bikes are also eligible for bus lane access meaning a faster, cleaner and traffic free London commute.

Shortly after London, Milan was added to CAKE’s mix with Italy’s fashion capital becoming the local base of operations. A local sales team is already up and running and the CAKE Pop-Up Store, situated in the Toroma Fashion District, opened its doors during fashion week. Italy is now backing electric vehicles in a shift towards sustainability with the Eco Bonus program offering 30% Eco Bonus on all electric vehicles (40% if you recycle your old combustion engine). A key part of CAKE’s city-by-city global expansion plan, the Via Tortona Pop-Up includes a showroom, service centre and demonstration vehicles, providing the opportunity to not only test ride these extraordinary electric vehicles, but also a place for the community of CAKE riders to service their bikes and connect with the team.

The CAKE Pop Up Store Milan is now open and is located on Via Tortona 19.

Having your CAKE and eating it too? “The CAKE Pop-Ups showcase their unique range of uncompromising, high-performance and versatile electric motorcycles developed by acknowledged entrepreneurs in strategy, design and branding,” concludes Ytterborn.
