After years of dealers questioning why KTM was entering the super car wars, KTM AG is officially exiting the X-Bow effort. “KTM Sportcar GmbH, a subsidiary of KTM AG, is realigning itself strategically and future-oriented with a new ownership structure,” is how the official notification reads.
Michael Wölfling, Managing Director of KTM Sportcar GmbH, explains:“With the new partners, we are not only gaining strategic strength, but also valuable impetus for the further development of our company. This lays the foundation for the next stage of development.”
According to Wölfling, the post-Bajaj plan calls for “an internationally experienced group of investors to assume responsibility for the further development of the KTM X-BOW brand — with a clear focus on technology & innovation, internationalization and expansion of the X-BOW model family. In particular, the areas of road-legal super sports cars and the newly created off-road segment are to be strengthened and expanded in a targeted manner.”
Moving forward, KTM AG will remain associated with KTM Sportcar GmbH as licensor of the brand name.
