As Mel Harris and Jeff Li hinted in the current issue, Benelli has some key models going to the U.S. market… but the Leoncino (Italian for “little lion”) came roaring onto the market early. The compact scrambler is powered by a fuel injected DOHC 500cc parallel twin producing 48 horsepower. A six-speed transmission is well suited to the broad midrange.
According to SSR, the lightweight steel lattice frame offers a low center of gravity and a seat height to match. The 45mm inverted forks up front work in conjunction with a laterally mounted single shock to provide a smooth ride. Cast-alloy 17-inch wheels are fitted with premium Pirelli Angel ST radial tires. Four-piston calipers put the squeeze on dual 320mm discs fore and a 260mm single disc aft.
“For more than a century, the Benelli brand has brought innovation to the motorcycle world, playing a key role in the evolution of the modern motorcycle,” says Li. “This 100-year heritage of Italian design culminates with Benelli’s revered Leoncino legacy, and Benelli Motorcycles USA is proud to welcome the legend back to America with the 2021 Benelli Leoncino.”
List price for the 2021 Benelli Leoncino is $6,199. Check the issue for more on what is going on with SSR and Benelli:
