MX TRACK OWNERS UNITE

FullThrottle.MX founder Mike Bambrick orchestrated the first in a series of roundtables “in an exciting convergence of minds and ideas,” as he puts it.  The Motocross Track Owner Roundtable drew more than 40 track owners, fostering a much-needed dialogue about the pressing issues surrounding the sport. “As the dust settles on this event, we look back at the engaging discussions that took place, and we look forward to announcing more initiatives slated for 2025 that aim to strengthen our motocross community.”

Navigating Industry Challenges

At the forefront of the discussions, Bambrick highlighted the urgent need for collaboration among track owners. “We must tackle challenges that threaten track closures nationwide. Eric Anderson, founder of Vroom Network, emphasized the necessity of forming a formal association to champion motocross interests. “This collective effort is now more important than ever,” adds Anderson.

The roundtable featured critical insights from attorney Render Freeman, who discussed a tragic case stemming from a fatal accident in Georgia. Freeman highlighted the legal implications of maintaining proper corporate structures and the complexities involved in waivers for minors. Parents can sign on behalf of their children, but it’s crucial to understand that they cannot fully eliminate liability—an essential takeaway for all track operators.

Rick Lindsey from Prime and XINSURANCE provided essential advice on motocross insurance. He emphasized the need to partner with an insurance provider who understands track operations. Lindsey urged track owners to ensure coverage for all participants. He also encouraged operators to use waivers directly from their insurance companies. This approach helps mitigate risks and ensures comprehensive protection.

Words from a legend: Roy Janson shed light on the current insurance landscape, emphasizing the challenges posed by ongoing litigation and the inconsistent recognition of waivers across various states. His insights underscore the critical necessity for adaptable and robust insurance solutions specifically designed for motorcycle tracks. As the industry navigates these complexities, the demand for tailored coverage that addresses unique operational risks has never been more pressing.

Looking Ahead

“The Motocross Track Owner Roundtable was a pivotal event, serving as a powerful platform for knowledge exchange, camaraderie and collective strategizing,” concludes Bambrick. “As we chart our path forward, we invite the entire motocross community to join us in championing an environment that supports growth, safety and enduring connections. Keep an eye out for upcoming initiatives in 2025—together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant motocross industry.
