Today is the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment! Among the many things COVID has screwed up was the Suffragists Centennial Motorcycle Ride — a cross-country motorcycle event celebrating the passage of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, women’s right to vote. Although the ride has been pushed into 2021, the reason for being remains, stronger than ever.
“Celebrating the principles of unity, community, and freedom of the road, the event is dedicated to all women who have fought for equality in the voting booth, in business, and in life,” says ride creator (and Dealernews Diversity editor) Alisa Clickenger. Incidentally Dealernews was advocating and celebrating the diversity of our industry long before it was a trendy thing to do… Go back to the great women entrepreneurs we have covered like Kim Coleman Harrison, Audrey Menarik, Gail Worth and the ultimate lady pioneer dealer Lilly Farrow in the latest issue.
Women will preserve… and so will powersports. The Suffragists Centennial Motorcycle Ride is now set for Portland, Oregon on July 31, 2021. Nationwide festivities will run through August 22, 2021 including the Grand Finale Celebration at the Women’s Motorcycle Conference in Arlington, Virginia, on August 19-22, 2021.
