SWM VISITS CPD ON THE QT

Deep in the heart of Texas, emissaries for Italian motorcycle manufacturer SWM met with dealers and U.S. importer CPD during the last week of June. The result of this meeting should be a better product mix for the U.S. and some key models dealers have been clamoring for, according to CPD head wrangler Mark Berg.

“SWM has always had fantastic quality engines with a long history of performance,” Berg notes. “Their 300, 500 and 610 off-road engines are proven performers, used by a number of OEMs including AJP, CCM, Janus and Horex, but we have hit some braking bumps for US homologations on the RS500. In addition, the Superdual adventure model production was canceled for 2 years while they retested for Euro 5 homologation,” Berg adds. “Planning and coordinating the bikes for US homologation isn’t a quick or easy process, and knowing that SWM has been redefining their model line up over the past 1.5 years, we have been in first gear for far too long. SWM is ready to click it up a couple gears, and we are excited to work towards a future together.”

SWM, like most OEM’s, struggled during COVID to keep business operations and brand quality consistent in Northern Italy. This meant focusing on the Italian and European markets. It worked as SWM sales increased strongly in the European market led by new models like the Hoku 400 Naked and StormBreaker1200. Now SWM is looking towards the USA with support for CPD with homologation testing, product branding and technical support improvements for the US market.

To that end SWM Manager Guiseppi Luisi and Export Manager Francesca Vuona met with the CPD team to showcase new models which could be sold in the U.S. and discuss exciting updates to the dualsport models for 2025… and beyond. They also committed to resuming U.S. testing on the Superdual, aiming for production by this winter. Additionally, they presented mockups of a new Scrambler 600 and a twin-cylinder Adventure model slated for 2026.

“While visiting our importer and dealers in Texas, we had the opportunity to gather both positive and negative feedback on our products from our customers,” says Export Manager, Francesca Vuono. “We are committed to addressing these issues and deliver the right products to our US customers, improve our current products and ensure satisfaction and trust in our brand. We are dedicated to continuously enhancing our product offerings and expanding our presence to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
