Job Duties include (but aren’t limited to): - Lead the delivery of training programs for MSF, ASI, and ROHVA. - Maintain and evolve curriculum materials across multiple rider education platforms. - Contribute to updates of MSF eCourses and national training/standards documents. - Review proposals for curriculum modifications and ensure alignment with MSF policies. - Oversee the development of Motorcycle Operator Licensing Exam (MOLE) preparation materials. - Serve as (or become) a RiderCoach Trainer-Trainer (T²), facilitating advanced workshops for RiderCoaches and Trainers. - Lead virtual and in-person professional development events (vRETS, IRETS, rRETS). - Deliver customized PDWs to states with developing or emerging rider training programs. - Re-establish and manage ongoing professional development for RiderCoach Trainers. - Provide subject matter expertise on training, testing, licensing, and rider safety. - Support policy development, legislative engagement, and regulatory initiatives. - Contribute to testimony, standards documents, and policy materials. - Lead the MSF Quality Assurance (QA) Program to ensure training integrity and continuous improvement. - Oversee evaluation of curriculum changes and instructional shifts. - Contribute expert insights to MSF communications, MSF eNews, and training updates. - Capture best practices and lessons learned to support organizational learning Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Public Safety Training, or a related field (strongly preferred). - Deep experience in training, curriculum development, or instructor leadership—whether in powersports or another high-performance or safety-critical profession. - A genuine passion for the powersports industry and commitment to advancing rider safety. - Certified RiderCoach or willingness and ability to become one; interest in advancing to RiderCoach Trainer status. - Strong understanding of training standards, testing approaches, and/or licensing systems. - Proven success leading instructor professional development or adult learning programs. - Excellent communication, facilitation, and public speaking skills. - Demonstrated strategic leadership and professionalism in stakeholder engagement. - Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel up to 30%. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience contributing to national training or safety standards. - Familiarity with the MSF training ecosystem or broader powersports industry (preferred, not required). - Experience with cross-functional project leadership or external partner coordination. This position bridges communications and government relations by transforming complex policy material into clear, accessible, and compelling content that drives understanding and action. As part of the Communications Department, you will work closely with the Government Relations Office (GRO) to deliver strategic messaging, develop integrated advocacy campaigns, and support policy engagement across multiple audiences—including legislators, media, member companies, and industry stakeholders. We’re seeking a strong communicator with demonstrated expertise in public policy, government affairs, and translating technical or legal material into impactful, audience-appropriate content. Key Responsibilities Writing & Content Development - Write and edit clear, engaging content on complex policy matters, including legislative updates, regulatory briefings, action alerts, talking points, FAQs, ---fact sheets, newsletters, and website copy. - Translate technical and legal documents into accessible language suitable for diverse audiences. - Support rapid-response communications related to policy changes, government decisions, or regulatory issues. - Write news releases and media alerts. - Assist with editing and proofreading of broader organizational communications. Strategic Messaging, Member Engagement, and Media Relations - Develop content strategies that support member engagement on issues such as emissions regulations, land access, vehicle classification, safety standards, rider education, and broader public policy trends. - Tailor messaging for various member segments including manufacturers, distributors, dealers, training organizations, business owners, and potentially enthusiasts. - Support preparation of content and collateral for association-led policy briefings, public meetings, and industry coalition events. - Help with media monitoring, media engagement, and managing media requests Digital Communications & Performance Tracking - Work with Associations’ Writer to craft articles for the MIC RideReport, our weekly digital newsletter, and the Executive Briefs, our monthly update to members. - Collaborate with the social media team to create advocacy-related digital content. - Track and report engagement metrics (email performance, website analytics, campaign participation) and recommend adjustments to improve effectiveness. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Public Affairs, or related field. - 3–5 years of experience in policy communications, government relations, public affairs, or advocacy writing. - Demonstrated ability to distill complex policy topics into clear, actionable messaging. - Strong understanding of federal and state legislative and regulatory processes. - Ability to read and interpret legislative/regulatory proposals and collaborate with subject matter experts to produce concise, audience-specific materials. - Experience crafting advocacy communications, action alerts, policy updates, and grassroots outreach. - Exceptional attention to detail.
