NACHO WINS THE STAGE BUT BRABEC STILL TOP AMERICAN

Although his Chilean teammate Nacho Cornejo topped Stage 2 of the 2024 Dakar Rally Ricky Brabec is still running third overall after finishing 5th today.

The former Dakar winner was second off the start line heading into the 20 km of dunes on a day where the navigation specialists would come into their element.  Not surprisingly, Cornejo, who favors tricky navigation, would catch the lead group of Ross Branch and Brabec 90 km into the stage.

"It’s only day two… we have 11 days left," cautioned Brabec. "It's a long rally. But I’m happy to be here and to get to ride in a group with my teammates. If you can ride with other people it all makes it fun"

Fun even if you have to lead off into the trackless dunes? "It’s always difficult to open the road especially when the stage is over 460 km long, but I’m happy to be here, so let’s keep the good vibes rolling and make it to the finish line."
