BAJAJ PLAN FOR KTM PROCEEDS

Conspicuous in its absence from EICMA, the KTM/Bajaj mashup has made headway. Monday morning after the world’s largest motorcycle trade fair wrapped up, former KTM parent company Pierer Mobility announced the Bajaj plan would proceed without restrictions. The headline in the Austrian Business Press read: EU Commission Does Not Initiate Investigation, Deal Proceeds.

“With Bajaj as our parent company, we now have a strong industry expert with a global presence, who has been with KTM for many years now and therefore understands our business, brand and products,” claims KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister, “Bajaj’s strengths and KTM’s expertise complement each other perfectly. We want to leverage these synergies to bring KTM back to the top.”

On November 10, 2025, Bajaj Auto International Holdings B.V. announced that it has been notified by the European Commission that no in-depth investigation pursuant to Article 11 of Regulation 2022/2560 would be initiated and that the takeover may now proceed to completion as of November 11, 2025. This means that the acquisition of Pierer Industrie AG’s 50.1% stake in Pierer Bajaj AG is now possible. Bajaj Auto International Holdings B.V. becomes the sole owner of Pierer Bajaj AG as soon as the closing has been formally completed. Pierer Bajaj AG will continue to hold 74.9% of KTM’s parent company PIERER Mobility AG. The closing of the change of control is expected in the coming weeks.

All regulatory requirements for Bajaj to take control have been met, but expect KTM to stay in Mattighofen for the time being at least. Neumeister, delighted with the successful closing, adds: “KTM will remain an Austrian company with independent management that plays a pioneering role in research and development, design, product quality and racing.”

There has been some gears shifting in Austria in advance of the November news: In mid-September 2025, Petra Preining joined the management team as CFO, Gottfried Neumeister confirmed as CEO and Verena Schneglberger-Grossmann, CLO.
