For the first time in company history, Segway Powersports and Segway Factory Racing will compete in the SCORE Baja 1000, fielding two Super Villains in one of the most demanding off-road races on the planet. The historic effort will be anchored by Jacob Zuccone, alongside global influencer Justin He and Wyatt Hastings, with the three drivers campaigning two separate Super Villains through Baja’s brutal terrain.
“The Baja 1000 has always represented something bigger than racing — it’s one of the ultimate proving grounds for both people and machines,” said Gabriel Cruz, Marketing Director, Segway Powersports. “For Segway Powersports to line up for the first time is a major milestone for our brand. Everything we have learned through the development of Segway Factory Racing has helped prepare us for this moment. We know Baja doesn’t give anything away. That’s exactly why we’re going.”
With Zuccone behind the wheel, the team has spent thousands of miles racing and developing the Super Villain platform across some of the toughest terrain in North American desert racing. From King of the Hammers and the Mint 400 to Silver State 300 and Vegas to Reno, every mile has served a purpose.
“Everything we’ve done has been building toward bigger challenges,” adds Zuccone. “Baja is one of those races you don’t need to explain. Everyone in off-road knows what that peninsula can do to a race car. We’ve put thousands of hard miles on the Super Villain getting to this point, and now it’s time to see what we can do in Baja.”
Global influencer Justin He’s involvement adds another dimension to the program, bringing the Baja 1000 experience to an international audience while demonstrating the increasingly global ambitions of Segway Powersports and Segway Factory Racing.
The Baja 1000 represents more than another event on the Segway Factory Racing calendar. “It represents another line crossed. Another proving ground. Another opportunity to put the Super Villain somewhere a Segway Powersports vehicle has never been before,” concludes Cruz.
