Big news from Bagger Racing League and Moto Morini dropped at NVP!
Bagger Racing League impresario Rob Buydos always manages to rock the NVP… Last year it was the “Battle Of The Baggers Build-Off” where Suburban Motors and Tucker Speed battled head-to-head to build a race-ready bagger from LeMans vendors right on the show floor. This year he may have out done himself. Borrowing inspiration from Steve Martin’s breakout 1977 comedy album Let’s Get Small, Buydos’ next big idea is actually small… Make that smaller displacement while still maintaining the big fun of BRL.
Currently BRL offers three classes: Barnett Super Street, Pirelli Pro Stock and Andrews Bagger GP for Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles and the league is thriving, approaching 30 motorcycles on the grid and has seen aftermarket development of race-inspired accessories from suspension, ergonomics and of course, performance. But something is missing from this burgeoning market niche according to Buydos.
“The top aftermarket companies in the industry are gathered here at LeMan’s NVP showcasing what is possible in the forthcoming years of the V-Twin and metric world,” says Rocket Rob. “With the Bagger Racing League, we are constantly trying to evolve… I think anybody that has followed Bagger racing over the past six years has witnessed the birth of aftermarket companies creating everything from footpegs to forks, cams, ergonomics, handlebars… The list goes on and on.” And with that, he presented two motorcycle concepts intended to make entry into bagger racing more affordable.
“We’re always searching for a way to tap into people’s passion for racing, and we wanted to try to bring an affordable way to do it… Yes, I know that ‘racing’ and ‘affordability’ don’t exactly go hand in hand. Well, my friend Chris McGee and I were talking at AIMExpo this year, and we think we may have come up with a concept that’s going to make it considerably more affordable for people to come in.” The existing Bagger classes are for big bikes and even bigger budgets… but we have a BIG idea for BRL 2027!”
