MIC SYMPOSIUM SET FOR FEB.18

Who was that masked man? Scott Schloegel riding the campaign trail with Motorcycle Caucus leader, Senator Joni Ernst last fall.

MIC Senior VP of Government Relations Scott Schloegel is one of the unsung heroes in the industry. For example, he led the effort to get the motorcycle industry declared essential in the early days of the pandemic. If it wasn't for MIC's round the clock efforts on Capitol Hill, the entire powersports industry would be suffering the ill effects of COVID rather than enjoying a healthy surge as powersports vehicle sales increased 18.4% in 2020. Overall motorcycle and scooter sales were up 11.4% according to the Motorcycle Industry Council Retail Sales Report.

Scott not only has his finger on the pulse of Washington, DC, he has a real seat of the pants feel for the powersports industry! In fact last October he joined Senate Motorcycle Caucus co-chair Senator Joni Ernst in her “Ride Across Iowa,” making stops in Sioux City, Carroll, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Davenport along the way.

Scott and his team regularly update the MIC Board of Directors on impending legislation, proposed impacts on powersports and the turbulent world of Washington in an election year. Now MIC members will be treated to Scott's insights at the next MIC Symposium as he reviews the nominated cabinet members and discusses how federal and state policies are taking shape.

"With the new administration settling in and several cabinet members confirmed, we have a clearer picture on the direction the policies that shape our industry will take," says Schloegel. From Digital Right to Repair and trade to land use and emissions, Schloegel is set to update us on the players, policy positions and next steps.

Episode 9 of the MIC Symposium: Policy, Politics and Powersports will start at 10 AM Pacific on Thursday, February 18, 2021. This webinar is free to members and $50 for non-members.
