OF EVs & GAMING THE SYSTEM…

According to no less an authority than the Wall Street Journal, the executive order President Biden signed last Thursday calling for the sale of electric, fuel cell and plug-in hybrids to account for 50% of car and light truck sales by 2030 may not be feasible.  In fact, auto makers admitted they could meet a target of somewhere between 40% and 50% of sales, "but only if Congress spends billions of dollars to build out a network of EV charging stations and provides tax incentives to consumers, among other measures."

Dealernews readers already knew this from the "current" issue, pun intended. EV industry pioneer and AMA Hall of Famer framed this conversation in his in-depth analysis of the limitations of the grid and the other logistical issues that will have to be overcome for even a fraction of the executive order to become reality… and he is a fan!
