For the first time since 2015 American Flat Track (AFT) returns to the legendary Indiana State Fairgrounds for its first-ever Indy Mile doubleheader event. “Whilst I wish we were playing to a full house of race fans in town for the Indy 500, COVID protocols make that impossible,” says AFT CEO Michael Lock.
Even without a chance to turn heads with overflow traffic from the Brick Yard, Lock believes the double-header format and return to the historic fairgrounds will be epic. “The atmosphere in town is bound to be electric — it is the “Racing Capital of the World” after all.” The same venue will play host to the Indy Mile I & II and the 65th Hoosier Hundred on the same weekend.
Since most people won’t be able to attend AFT in person this crazy season fans can access the broadcast package for less than $1 a race with the AFT TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold. On-track action begins Friday, August 21 at 4:30 p.m. ET (1:30 p.m. PT) and again on Saturday, August 22 at 4:30 p.m. ET (1:30 p.m. PT).
