The Dakar Rally starts this weekend! Former contender and perennial cheerleader for the event Scot Harden weighs in on the subject in the December issue of Dealernews. He also checked in with Johnny Campbell to see how the first American winner (and last year’s runner up) Ricky Brabec is doing.
Get the scoop on Skyler Howes, Andrew Short and newcomer Mason Klein starting on page 78 of the AIMExpo issue. Spoiler alert! Harden says this is the strongest contingent of American riders ever assembled, and he should know since he assembled the first American team and raced Dakar a couple of times.
He also posted this cool clip on social media! “Dakar is the toughest off-road race in the world,” says AMA Hall Of Fame Harden. “The desert is very big and it can make you feel very small. Good luck to everyone that is taking it on, especially the U.S. riders! Here's a video from my 2004 effort… incidentally, I was 48 years old at the time.”
