Last chance to register for the Motorcycle Industry Council’s Washington DC Fly-In on March 19! Set for April 7-8 the MIC event is your chance to meet your representatives in Congress, face-to-face, and let them know about the issues important to your business and the powersports industry. Timing is critical as our industry faces some serious threats, and you need to be part of the solution suggests MIC.
“If you’ve never done this before, it’s a must-do and the MIC makes it easy for you,” explains MIC Government Relations VP Scott Schloegel. “We’ll set up all your meetings, help you with your messaging, and we’ll even accompany you to meetings if you want us to.” The goal is to get in front of your elected officials and have them understand what is important to you.
Tariffs will make manufacturing and importing motorcycle products more expensive. That either eats into your bottom line or you pass those costs along to your customers, which may result in lower sales — either way, Congress needs to hear this directly from YOU.
The new Highway bill will provide funding for transportation infrastructure such as the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). RTP provides critical funding for trail development and maintenance, so our customers have places to ride our products. DC needs to know this is critical for our industry’s sustainability and growth so we can continue to grow our nearly $50 billion industry. The new Highway bill will also fund infrastructure and research affecting our industry. Emerging autonomous vehicle technology must be able to recognize and react to motorcycles. Capitol Hill needs to understand why this matters to our industry and how they can ensure a safe riding environment for our customers.
Access to federal lands for recreational purposes is another important component of ensuring that our customers have quality riding opportunities. Land access means more riding and growth for our industry. This directly impacts your bottom line.
What should you expect?
Day 1: Arrival day. Pick up your folder with your personal schedule and agenda. Enjoy a casual reception with your industry peers and friends.
Day 2: Breakfast is served. We’ll go over messaging and any questions you have. Then Congress members will come to address us, as well as transportation and outdoors leaders. After that, it’s a full day of meetings as we go to the Senate and House buildings for in-person meetings. We’ll wrap the day with a reception where you can network and connect with other industry professionals.
Registration ends March 13, so register now. Together, we are stronger.
