Long time Nebraska dealer and one of the 9 National Powersports Dealer Association founding board members Robert Kay has called it a career. Dealernews covered Kay’s Star City store — half of his retail operations as he also owned Platte River Harley-Davidson — and amazing industry climb in the November 2021 issue:

I’m retiring.
41 years, 4 months and 10 days ago I started working in the motorcycle/powersports industry. Yesterday, August 31, 2022 was my final day. The initial plan was for three months!
Today was spent signing piles of documents to sell both my stores. It’s far more emotional than I expected. I’m going to truly miss the people, especially my awesome staff and I’m going to miss the ever-changing challenges. A chapter is ending and I’m looking forward to the future.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the people that worked with me over the decades and the tens of thousands of customers who trusted us with your business. It feels almost sacrilegious to reduce the decades of hard work of over 300 total people down to a single number on a spreadsheet and yet that’s how it works. I will never forget you all nor take you for granted.
Thank you everyone. It’s been a crazy ride.
