SCORE International made news at the recent Off-Road Expo by announcing that Scot Harden will serve as Grand Marshal for the 2022 Baja 1000. “Scot has had an amazing career as an off-road motorcycle racer, team manager, business leader and advocate for the sport,” said SCORE Marketing Director Jim Ryan. “With multiple overall wins at the Baja 1000 and Baja 500, along with other SCORE championships to his credit and countless wins at major off-road races in the U.S. and internationally, Scot embodies the spirit and passion of off-road racing. We are pleased to announce that he will serve as Grand Marshall for the upcoming BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000 Presented by 4 Wheel Parts.”
“I’m very honored to be chosen to serve in this capacity,” commented Harden during the press conference. “The Baja 1000 always represented the pinnacle of the sport for me as a young racer. The tradition, heritage and spirit of adventure it embodies is something that I am very proud to be associated with. I want to thank SCORE not only for the honor but for recognizing the contribution that motorcycles have made to the history of the event. It’s further acknowledgement by SCORE that motorcycle racers are a big part of their legacy and an important part of their community.”
Joining Ryan on the stage for the announcement was SCORE International founder and Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Famer, Sal Fish. “My first off-road race in Baja was the 1974 Baja 500 — 1974 was also the first year that the guy next to me, Sal Fish, ran the Baja 500 as a SCORE International event,” added Harden. “Before that Mickey Thompson was promoting the Baja races. You have to admit it’s pretty coincidental we are standing here together after all these years. Next year SCORE celebrates its 50th year of racing.”
