Skyler Howes Top American and Overall leader

Howes about that! Privateer Skyler Howes went from 6th place on stage #2 of the Dakar Rally to Top American and Overall leader of the #DakarRally2021! Another tough day of breaking trial took fellow American and defending champ Ricky Brabec out of the Top 10 and bad gas took Andrew Short out of the rally completely, while Howes took a solid 4th on the stage.

"I'm just having fun," said Skyler from the bivouac. "This is a privateer effort, so it is pretty unbelievable." However Howes now facing the same trap that the Factory Honda and KTM teams have been having by leading out the stages after winning and losing tons of time… an unenviable position going into a really tough stage.

Stage four of the 2021 Dakar Rally will challenge riders with a 337km timed special consisting mostly of rough sandy tracks with some added technical sections along the way. Totalling 813km – the longest of the event – the day will lead riders from Wadi Ad-Dawasir to Riyadh.
