SPEAKING OF DAKAR…

Starting on a Sea Camp on the shores of the Red Sea and ending on the opposite side of the Arabian Peninsula, the 45th edition of the Dakar is the toughest one since the rally came to Saudi Arabia. Packing almost 5,000 kilometres of specials into a prologue and 14 stages, the route is a true test of extreme endurance. While Husqvarna Factory racer Skyler Howes has been grabbing headlines and trading the lead with the world's best Rally racers, there are other Americans in the field.

National Powersports Dealer Association advocate David Pearson took a leave of absence to race the Dakar Rally this year, and although he crashed out, the dream continues for his brother and his American Rally Originals teammates. Originally called “Malle Moto” for the red tool box that goes from bivouac to bivouac, the Originals by Motul racers have to compete without any assistance.

Of the 125 motorcycles entered into one of the hardest Dakars ever, 27 are doing it the hard way, running in the Original By Motul class. Stop by the NPDA display at AIMExpo to hear firsthand from David about this epic adventure! NPDA is in Booth #1008 in Las Vegas.
