Honda HRC Rally2 racer Preston Campbell is hoping for a little luck as the Rally-Raid Portugal kicks off on Saint Patrick’s Day! The Dakar runner-up and his teammate/hometown hero Martim Ventura head to Portugal following an impressive opening round, aiming to carry that momentum into the next round of the World Rally-Raid Championship.
“After Dakar I went home for some rest, then did some training and a couple of local races,” says Campbell. “I’m super excited to be here, my second time in Portugal. I have a little more experience so I know what to expect this year, it seems like it’s probably going to be wet, but I’m ready to get the race underway on St. Patrick’s Day.”
The rally begins on March 17th with a short six-kilometer prologue in Grândola, Portugal. From there, the competitors will cover just over 2,000 kilometers spread over six days of racing. The event is known for its challenging high-speed gravel terrain combined with technical navigation. The route crosses into Spain before heading south to the finish in the Algarve.
