Last night Kawasaki Dealers came together for the first time in 4 years, today they are reveling in the Ridge UTV and a host of new models in Phoenix. This dealer meeting also marked the first time that the green team gather U.S. and Canadian dealers for a “North American” Dealer Meeting. Hiroshi Ito, President and CEO of Kawasaki Motors also unveiled the global strategy to build on current sportbike success and go after increased market share in both the PWC and side-by-side sectors. “It is time to let the good times roll, globally,” said Ito.
Noting that Kawasaki created the UTV category with the MULE in 1988 and that Jet Ski set the stage for the entire personal watercraft industry 50 years ago, Ito states it is time to reclaim the leadership in these categories. The roll out of the Ridge and the Ultra 160 LXS “Angler” Jet Ski are the models that will help achieve significant growth that outpaces the industry in both these key categories, claimed Ito. Adding a bit of muscle to the plan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin then broke down the wall between the auditorium and the display area… and the Good Times really started to roll for the dealers in attendance.
Today, the North American Dealers were treated to the Ridge demo rides out at Wildhorse Pass race complex. We will have full coverage in a coming issue, but after experiencing the inline 4 that powers the Ridge, initial reports from our dealer friends are a thumbs up. Deliveries begin shortly after the dealer meeting and stay tuned for the Big Game in Las Vegas after the AIMExpo for a TV spot showing off the Ridge to the public during the Super Bowl!
