The motorcycle news cycle will be dominated by headlines from Sturgis for the next fortnight, so we will give the holeshot to two women’s rides, both culminating at Pearl’s Jam at the Sturgis Museum. An all-day set for Monday, August 10, Pearl’s Jam is named in honor of Rally co-founder and Indian Dealer Pearl Hoel and celebrate women in motorcycling with presentations, book signings, moto celebrity visits, a celebration of the Museum’s 25th Anniversary, and the terminus of Shantell’s Sisterhood Ride to Sturgis and Women Riders World Relay (WRWR).
Museum Director Heidi Haro says it is an honor for the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum to host these “inspirational long-distance rides that highlight female empowerment, history, and community on two and three wheels.”
Shantell’s Sisterhood Ride to Sturgis was founded by rider and entrepreneur Shantell Williams. It features a diverse group of women traveling backroads from Florida to Sturgis. The purposeful journey honors legendary rider Bessie Stringfield, the “Motorcycle Queen of Miami,” ahead of her induction into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame. The ride also marks Williams’ return to cross-country riding following her recovery from a serious crash.
Women Riders World Relay (WRWR) co-founder Liza Miller and long-distance rider Wendy Crockett are leading a 13,000-plus mile, coast-to-coast journey. Dozens of women and riding partners are joining for single days or full legs, attempting a world-record GPS route spelling “WRWR 2026” across the U.S. to connect and challenge women riders.
Both rides arrive in Sturgis to anchor Pearl’s Jam for the staging of a group photo and a celebration of the Museum’s 25th Anniversary.
