THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH?

While news of Yamaha’s collab with John Deere was breaking, multiple published reports called out that Yamaha’s former Cypress, California, campus had been sold to the Walt Disney Corporation for $115 million. “I can confirm that the property is sold, and the transaction is complete,” said Yamaha spokesman Martin Peters in a statement provided to the Southern California News Group.

Dealernews had reported the exodus from Cypress back in February:

However, Peters offered no additional commentary: “I am not at liberty to confirm the details of the transaction.  As for the headquarters move, we are still in the planning stages.”

According to Avison Young, the commercial real estate brokerage retained by Yamaha, sale of the 25-acre site and U.S. HQ for 47 years closed on Friday, Oct. 2 but Disney was not named as the buyer. Real estate data firm PropertyShark claims the sale actually closed Sept. 23 with Disney paying $115.29 million, according to the grant deed filed in connection with the property transfer. The campus includes industrial, flex-warehouse and office buildings in a combined 278,964 square feet, occupying an entire city block bound by Katella Avenue, Holder Street and Yamaha Way.

“This property offered an opportunity for a sound investment given its sizable footprint and proximity to the resort,” explains the official statement from Walt Disney Parks & Resorts U.S. Inc. “This acquisition provides space that can help support our long-term operational needs for our continued growth and evolving business needs. We just finalized the acquisition of this property and do not have any additional information to share at this time.”
