In addition to the recently announced move of many functions to Georgia, Yamaha Motorsports Group has made some corresponding personnel moves. “The organizational changes designed to strengthen communication and increase speed-to-market, while improving interaction with the company’s motorsports dealer partners, ultimately ensuring a strong positioning for future success,” according to the communique from the tuning fork folks. Former ATV/Side-X-Side stalwart Mike Martinez gets promoted to Vice President of Motorsports. Martinez will be supported by VP of Business Planning Chas Caraway, and Mike Doughty, General Manager of Sales.

“With their wealth of knowledge and experience within YMUS and the Powersports industry, this new leadership team will be headquartered out of the company’s new Marietta, Georgia, facility, and will manage all marketing, sales and service business for Yamaha’s Motorcycle, ATV, Side-by-Side and Snowmobile product lines, including Yamaha Genuine Parts & Accessories.”

Additional organizational changes included a restructuring of the company’s Motorsports Field Sales team and select roles within the company’s operational groups. According to Yamaha, these changes are all part of a strategy to strengthen the brand’s competitiveness in the powersports industry.
