Mindful of COVID protocols, Kawasaki opted for a virtual launch of the five latest 2021 models in the wee hours of the morning of November 23. West Coast staff began streaming the online presentation at 6 a.m. “This year has had no shortage of challenges,” said Senior Manager, Public Relations Ken Essex in kicking off the presentation of a brand new dual-sport, Supermoto, Supercharged Hypernaked and a pair of Supersport motorcycles. “Kawasaki continues our dedication to listening to our customer needs and continuing to evolve and broaden our model line-up.”
The U.S. team was virtually joined by KHI GM Marketing & Sales Masanori Inoue from the Akashi factory. “We have all been affected by COVID-19 one way or another. It is times like these that our ability to stay true to our mission to deliver the good times to you through our exciting products such as motorcycles, side-by-sides and personal watercraft is truly tested. In order to meet the challenge, we are ready to harness the entire Kawasaki Heavy Industry’s group strength.”
With its 6th straight WorldSBK title and corresponding manufacturers’ titles, the Kawasaki’s line of liter class superbikes has been the platform of choice for sportbikes around the globe. The 2021 Ninja ZX-10R, Ninja ZX-10R KRT Edition and Ninja ZX-10RR feature all new aerodynamic body with integrated winglets, small and light LED headlights, TFT color instrumentation and Smartphone Connectivity, plus high-tech updates derived right from the KRT’s WorldSBK effort.
If your customers are looking for something other than a race-replica Ninja, the 2021 Z H2 SE Supercharged Special Edition is the king of the “Hypernaked” class. But it is the two new 300s that may draw the most door swings in 2021. “The all-new KLX300 lightweight dual-sport motorcycle comes ready with all the tools necessary to deliver an exciting riding experience, taking on paved streets, back roads, wooded trails and beyond,” claims Kawasaki. A new powerplant (shared with its Supermoto sibling), 21-inch wheel and up spec suspension should make the KLX300 equally at home navigating the urban jungle or traversing wooded trails.
While the KLX300 dual-sport is equal parts on-road and dirt, the KLX300SM receives a host of supermoto inspired componentry. This includes 17-inch front and rear wheels paired with street tires, supermoto tuned suspension, and aggressive styling. These differences establish the KLX300SM as the ultimate lightweight supermoto, claims Kawasaki.
