Already the Top Triumph Dealer in North America and Royal Enfield as well as being a perennial contender with Ducati and Suzuki, Tom Hicks commemorated another milestone at his Brea-based Southern California Motorcycles dealership. “We just had our 24th Annual Open House here at So Cal Motorcycles,” he notes. To paraphrase Yogi Berra, who woulda thunk it? Well who but Hicks himself?
“Twenty-four years ago I dreamt that So Cal M/C would be the best dealership there is,” he recollects. “Even though ALL the odds were against me, SCM can boast that it is the #1 Triumph dealership of all time and the #1 in North America every year. Now we are also the largest and #1 Royal Enfield dealer in the US, and we have the best Customer Service Index in the country!” Certainly cause to celebrate with a ride to the dealership.
“While the threat of rain kept a majority of people at home, those that did come had a great time and enjoyed themselves. And it didn’t rain!” Hey, it never rains in California according to the old song.
Even the threat of rain didn’t dampen the mood. “I’m gonna say it again, and I’m pretty sure you’re tired of hearing it, but I’m the luckiest man in the world! I’m surrounded with the best staff and friends as well as the best customers any business owner could ever wish for. I had such a fantastic time talking to people, some who had been my customers for over 20 years.”
This track record of success is paving the way for the next 24 years, according to Tom. If that’s not enough to make me the luckiest man in the world, I also get to ride a lot of different motorcycles as well as my personal Bonne, Tiger and Harley. I’m about to be 72 but I am still like the little kid in the old Honda commercial who said…
