Skyler Howes 10 enjoyed a much-improved day following his crash on Stage 1. With his HRC - Honda Racing Corporation CRF450 RALLY back in full working order, he was able to make the most of his preferred sandy terrain to secure fourth place, just over three minutes off the win. It marked a strong recovery as he moves up to P7 overall. "Today started out a little bit slow in the rocks, but once it opened up with the high speeds, I felt really good, at home and happy to bring in a decent stage finish, so really happy with how stage two went and looking forward to Stage 3."
"Day two in the book... It was a long day, full of rocks, but I enjoy the rocks so hopefully we have more days like this," said Top American Ricky Brabec.. "Unfortunately,I couldn’t make a push to grab some bonus time, but I did the best I could to keep up with the boys up front. Hopefully tomorrow is a good day for us, we’ll keep consistency and keep pushing forward."
Although Ricky Brabec recorded the fastest Stage time outright, time bonuses earned by Daniel Sanders and Edgar Canet ultimately dropped him to P3 on Stage 2 of the Dakar Rally. Finishing 1’46” down, Brabec retains third overall, now 2’18” off the lead, a margin he’ll be eager to reduce on Stage 3 as more bonus time comes into play.
#Chucky Defending Dakar Rally champ Daniel Sanders swapped places with his young Red Bull KTM teammate Edgar Canet to take Stage 2 of the Rally. Sanders secured his first stage win of the year and his 10th at the Dakar. Stage 2 took riders from Yanbu to AlUla over a demanding 400-kilometer selective section. Heading inland toward the Hejaz Mountains, the stage began with slow, technical terrain, featuring narrow, winding tracks and rocky passes before opening into wider, faster sections. After crossing a series of challenging riverbeds, the route finished at high speed across sandy plateaus, white-sand canyons, and flowing off-piste terrain, ensuring another physically and mentally demanding day on the bike for all.
Dakar Rally update from "the other American" Mason Klein: Stage 2 P14 OA P24 The Stage went exactly how I wanted. No mistakes, full attack. I rode insane today! It’s hard knowing the difference right now is equipment. The power just isn’t there to fight the factory guys for top 10. That hurts. Still grateful — the bike is reliable, I’m riding at my best, and I know I belong. This might not be my year… but it’s not the end of the story. Maybe a miracle can happen in the desert 🐪
